Kick off your AIEC conference week in style, in company of your colleagues and peers, at the first ever virtual AIEC Welcome Reception!

Hosted by Kubarz, professional cocktail bartenders, this function will be filled with fun and laughs, as you get to perfect your cocktail and mocktail making techniques.

If you practice correctly, you’ll also get to enjoy your cocktail or mocktail creation  from the comfort of your own space. Our hosts will be teaching us how to create mocktails and cocktails.

Checklist (please prepare in advance)

In readiness for the Welcome Reception, please have the following prepared at home.

If you prefer, you can purchase a kit directly from Kubarz.

Purchase kit and/or ingredients

Cocktail equipment

A cocktail shaker, nip pourer, nip measure, muddler and a conical and Hawthorne strainer, similar to items in Kubarz cocktail kit below.

If you don’t have these or something similar, you can use the following that you may have at home:

Boston cocktail shaker

  • Cocktail shaker with a shaker lid
  • A jam jar with a lid
  • A protein shaker
  • Water bottle (with large opening to fit ice)

Nip measure

  • Measuring jug or egg cup or just free pour!

Muddler

  • Small rolling pin, end of a wooden spoon, masher

Hawthorne and/or conical strainer

  • Tea strainer, fine pasta strainer

Additionally, you will need the following glassware and cocktail ingredients:

Glassware

We recommend you have a short, tall and martini glass available to serve your cocktails in. However, personal preference is important when drinking your own cocktails. We have guests who have used small or large wine glasses, “jam jars” or even stemless glassware. Do not be too concerned about the exact type of glassware... your cocktail will taste great regardless!

Ice

Lots of ice .  4 -6 large ice cube trays of ice. Guests sometimes find it easier to get a bag of 2kg or 5kg ice from supermarket or service station ( recommended option)

Cocktail ingredients

We have chosen two cocktails that you can use either Gin or Vodka as the base spirit.

You will need a bottle of your favourite Gin or Vodka or both and the following ingredients

  • Lemon juice 30mls
  • Sugar syrup 30mls
  • 1 x egg
  • Espresso coffee 30mls

Optional

30mls of Kahlua or Tia Maria

Non-alcoholic / mocktail options

On addition to the ingredients listed above you can add pineapple juice 60mls and coconut cream 30mls

Or if you want to go the Premium option purchase some Lyres London Dry and/ or Lyres White Cane.
